Meet Dr. Renken

Dr. Josh Renken, a native of Auburn, Illinois, attended Eastern Illinois University before graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School. After attending dental school, Josh was a member of the Bloomingdale, Illinois practice of Associated Dental Care and the Plano, Illinois practice of Compass Dental. He opened Renken Dentistry in 2003. Josh is a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, G.V. Black Dental Society, the World Clinical Laser Institute, and the Chicago Dental Society.  He is currently serving on the board for The Parent Place.  Dr. Renken is also serving as the dental consultant for the dental clinic at the Noll Medical Pavillion opening in April.  The Hope Institute and Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois have developed a partnership to create a center which will provide integrated health care (including dental) to those children who are most at risk in central Illinois.  Dr. Renken has been working with The Hope Institute in establishing an oral hygiene program for the new facility.

Dr. Renken continually attends general continuing education courses along with those on cosmetic dentistry and procedures for implant dentistry so that he can provide the most contemporary techniques to his patients. “It is important for my staff and I to regularly attend continuing education courses in order to provide the best care possible to our patients,” Dr. Renken said. Most recently, Dr. Renken received a Camlog implant certification, Invisalign certification, and participated in the World Clinical Laser Institute 'Associate Fellowship' Dental Laser Course.

Staff at Renken Dentistry includes: Dental Hygienists Michelle and Mary, Dental Assistants Wendy and Natalie, Office Manager Jennifer, Financial Coordinator Shannon, and Scheduling Coordinator Jessie.

Staff members often attend continuing education courses in the field.  The entire staff has current certification in CPR and in using an External Automatic Defibrillator (AED).  Congratulations to our hygienist Michelle!   Michelle is now certified to administer local anesthetic.  Hygienists attended a seminar in Periodontics and the entire office attended the Invisalign certification course in late March. Most recently, Natalie became certified in Coronal Polishing and Application of Pit and Fissure Sealants.  In plain English that means she can now polish teeth and apply sealants!  Our office is also active in community events.  We recently collected diapers for The Parent Place Diaper Drive, collected food for Senior Services of Springfield, participated in Bowl For Kids' Sake for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and donated to Operation Smile.
